Haydn on his return to Vienna, met a young musician named Ludwig van Beethoven, whom he invited to come to Austria and study with him, therefore Beethoven had two other persons closely connected with him who were also Freemasons: his doctor/biographer and his teacher. Joseph Haydn's story begins on March 31, 1732, in a poor peasant home in Rohrau. (Rohrau was in what is now called Austria.) Joseph loved to sing and he had a good voice. Haydn's new intentions also meant that he was willing to spend much time on a single work: both oratorios took him over a year to complete.

Probably the most important and successful composition from this time was his patriotic “A Lincoln Portrait” (1942). After his appointment as vice-kapellmeister, Leopold Mozart obviously did not write any further symphonies. 1763 is also reported as the year in which Michael Haydn's brother was appointed as concert master and court composer by the Salzburg court. Bach as these were from the orchestral platitudes of Reutter or Hasse, His symphony Le Midi (written in 1761) already shows a remarkable freedom and independence in the handling of orchestral forces, and further stages of advance were reached in the oratorio of Tobias, in the Paris and Salomon symphonies, and above all in the Creation, which turns to good account some of the debt which he owed to his younger contemporary.

The emotional content of Haydn's music cannot accurately be summarised in words, but one may attempt an approximate description. They have been used in films, commercials, and recorded by hundreds of artists. Its opening notes sound just like an ending, a passage of apparently clinching finality, after which we are introduced to a little snippet of tune that seems stuck in its own narrow groove, unable to get anywhere. So what Beethoven is doing is writing a classical piece, but with baroque elements, but using this as an introduction to something that is quite far removed from, say, Bach or Handel.

Here, he turns his attention to the bassoon, and gives it a merry old tune to parp, which makes for a very enjoyable opening. How you know him: A wedding ceremony staple, Mendelssohn is responsible for composing The Wedding March. Haydn also attended concerts by other composers. It is hard to realise that Haydn's Masses were ever regarded as too severe; in any case, the Prince felt dissatisfied, and wanted a change. At the age of 30, while working at the Esterházy court, Haydn developed new musical style and produced a flood of successful compositions, due to which he got international popularity.

A highlight in the early symphonies thanks to its restless energy and uncomplicated tunes. Eventually, his compositions came to the attention of some of Vienna's music-loving aristocrats, and under their patronage his career progressed rapidly. Liszt also became good friends with Frédéric Chopin, who influenced his composition style into further lyricism and romanticism. He took on the full duties in 1766, when the pervious full music director died.

Shortly thereafter, his wife was diagnosed with tuberculosis, and his friend Karel Havlícek, a revolutionary who was sent to exile, died. Korai zenekari műveiben erőszeretettel alkalmazta a szvit -szerű sinfonia (a sinfonia eredetileg egy három részből álló operai nyitánytípus volt, amely később önálló zenekari darabbá vált, tulajdonképpen a szimfónia korai előzménye) elemeket, így ezek a darabok tulajdonképpen nem mások, mint táncszerűen stilizált tételek füzérei. Haydn's parents noticed his musical talent early and decided he needed to go to a different city to truly explore it.

In 1794 he returned to London for another successful tour, then in 1795 settled in Vienna for good. There are two more themes but they are essentially variants of the main theme. Between 1790 and 1791, now in his mid-thirties, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart went through a period of great music productivity and personal healing. His music was extremely popular, and therefore made available in multiple editions, in the early nineteenth century. A levél záradékában még arra is felhívta a zeneszerző figyelmét, hogy az utóbbi időben kevesebb gondot fordított a komponálásra.

Charles Rosen has argued that this assertion on Haydn's part was not just sales talk, but meant quite seriously; and he points out a number of important advances in Haydn's compositional technique that appear in these quartets, advances that mark the advent of the Classical style in full flower. (See above, for their influence on Mozart.) These include a fluid form of phrasing, in which each motif emerges from the previous one without interruption, the practice of letting accompanying material evolve into melodic material, and a kind of "Classical counterpoint" in which each instrumental part maintains its own integrity.

This concert will look at the evolution of his style and explore the influence of the Enlightenment and the tumultuous social and cultural changes that were taken place in Europe during his lifetime.
