This Singspiel opera by Mozart is presently one of the most frequently performed operas worldwide. What is remarkable is that by 1790 this affair seems be have been settled since Haydn dedicated his op 64 string quartets to Tost who was by then no longer a violinist but a wealthy merchant. While Haydn didn't actually invent the term "symphony" (the word dates back at least to Gabrieli in 1597), his output of 104 symphonies transformed the genre and formed the base from which romantic and modern symphonies were derived.

Would you like to merge this question into it? already exists as an alternate of this question. There is no more familiar anecdote than that which connects Haydn with Sir Joshua Reynold’s portrait of this distinguished vocalist. Both the Buchberger and Kodaly complete cycles are available in deeply discounted boxes, which make both storage and economic sense if you plan to get more than a few (although mixing and matching for the sake of variety makes sense as well).

According to Grove, Hofmann was active at the right time in order for his symphonies to already express the classical style. His next important breakthrough was in the Opus 33 string quartets (1781), in which the melodic and the harmonic roles segue among the instruments: it is often momentarily unclear what is melody and what is harmony.
